Spooktacular Harrogate Halloween Events You Don’t Want to Miss
Halloween is just days away and though visitors to Harrogate may not be heading out trick or treating, there are plenty of family-friendly events in the area that will get you spooked! If you love to celebrate Halloween and are heading to our Harrogate serviced apartments in half-term, read on to find out what’s on.
Scarecrow Trail at Lotherton Hall
Join the spooky scarecrow trail at Lotherton Hall near Aberford, and opening hours are extended to 8pm, with last entry 6.30pm. Visitors must follow the clues around the house and estate to find the scarecrows. On Wednesday 31st October there is a packed day of Halloween fun including Skeletown and creepy crafts in the Servants Room. Don’t forget to visit some of the animals at Lotherton Hall too! Tickets are free in addition to the standard admission to the museum.
Room on the Broom at RHS Harlow Carr
For October half term, RHS Harlow Carr near Harrogate is putting on an adventure trail throughout the garden called Room on the Broom, based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, running from now until 4th November. The garden also has a number of other half-term activities between the 28th October and 4th November, including craft workshops, meeting creepy crawlies up close and a chance to make your own broomstick. Enchanted Cave at Mother Shipton’s Cave
From the 27th October to 4th November you can journey through Mother Shipton’s Enchanted Forest, trying to break the witch’s curse. There is also a daily Halloween costume competition at 2pm, so fancy dress is encouraged! Actors will be stationed around the park interacting with families in character to help you complete the trail. The park is open 10am to 4.30pm, with last admission an hour before closing. Admission is £7 for adults, children 3-15 £5 and children under three are free.
Halloween Adventure at Stockeld Park
Stockeld Park is a seasonal attraction, opening special adventures for the school holidays located off the A661 in North Yorkshire. They are now open for their Halloween Adventure, where you can take a trip around the Enchanted Forest, journey through the magical maze, have a go at Nordic skiing on the woodland trail and try not to topple over on the ice rink! The park is open 10.30am to 8.30pm daily and standard tickets at £15 per person give access to the forest and maze and there is also a chance to upgrade your ticket to access the ice skating and skiing, available online and on the day.
Frightwater Valley in Ripon
Lightwater Valley in Ripon has been renamed in honour of Halloween to Frightwater Valley, and the theme park will be transformed between 27th and 31st October. There will be a series of events and activities that will appeal to the whole family, from magic shows to trick or treat, and you can take part in a fancy dress competition each day between 3pm and 3.30pm. For the braver visitors, have a walk through the Live Scare Maze, though this is not recommended for children under 12.
