Bank Holiday Weekend Activities in Harrogate
The late May 2018 Bank Holiday weekend is just days away and no doubt you are as excited as we are about a three-day weekend, sunshine and family-fun activities taking place in and around Harrogate. Mercer Art Gallery
The Mercer Art Gallery hosts many interesting exhibitions throughout the year, and Picturing Women is their most current, ending on Sunday 17th June. The exhibition marks 100 years since women first got the vote, and celebrates inspirational British female artists from past and present. Included in the exhibit are works from Julia Margaret Cameron, Victoria Brookland, Dame Laura Knight, Eileen Cooper and more.
Harrogate Car Enthusiasts Show
Harrogate Car Enthusiasts Show is back again and encourages all car enthusiasts to come along on Saturday 26th May to Harrogate Railway Athletic football grounds. There will be hundreds of cars – classic and new – scooters, motorbikes, live entertainment, steam engines, animal displays and much more taking place throughout the day. The event is open from 10am to 5pm, and all proceeds go toward Yorkshire air ambulance.
Royal Pump Room
Harrogate’s Royal Pump Room is celebrating its 65th birthday from Saturday 26th May to Sunday 3rd June. To celebrate, the museum is travelling back in time to the 1950s, where you can dress up, do some crafts and play some old-fashioned board games. The museum will be open 10.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sundays. Admission is £4 for adults and £2.50 children.
Harewood House Great British Food Festival
The Great British Food Festival is back at Harewood House for the Bank Holiday weekend, and you can expect lots of local and artisan producers, hot food vendors, ale and wine bars and cookery lessons. There will be a cake competition, Men Vs Food, demonstrations from top chefs and live music to entertain. Dogs are welcome and there are car parks are near the site. Valley Gardens in Harrogate are Grade II listed English Heritage Gardens that covers 17 acres and a lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon in May. You can wander around, seeking out the mineral springs, including 36 in the Bogs Field area. The gardens are open all year and go through constant restoration and regeneration, so are always looking their best. On Sunday afternoons in the summer, band concerts take place in the gardens, and there are outdoor games available too such as pitch and putt golf, crazy golf, boating pool and tennis.
